This project is a formal exploration of stopmotion animation with a realtime system. Inspired by Lingdong Huang's Photographic Inverse Kinematics experiment I was interested if I could create the illusion that stopmotion frames of myself would react to some external stimulus. When deciding the composition and interaction I was pointed towards the Looney Toons animated short "Duck Amuck", and the idea of being a cartoon character pushed against the edges of the screen.

Since creating this experiment I have displayed it at a number of animated shorts screenings, as well as live implementations. This work is an extension of performance through the form of stopmotion and code. I can only perform a fall or a dance once, but with this medium can relive it under hundreds of different circumstances, endlessly.
